Casco Employees Participate in Red Nose Day

On May 23rd, Casco participated in Red Nose Day, a campaign that we believe truly hits home and speaks to everyone, as its aim is to end child poverty by funding programs that that improve children’s safety, health, and education.

Casco Donates to Ronald McDonald House

The employees at Casco looked for a local charity to which they could make a donation in 2018. In order to ensure that the donation was a sizeable one, the donation was gathered over the course of the calendar year.

Melissa Mangold, President and Owner

Melissa joined Casco in 1990 and assumed the presidency in 2002. She has guided Casco through major company milestones, including FDA medical device registration; launch of Casco’s own line of top-quality hospital replacement products, C-Matt™; and production expansion into a wide variety of markets. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati, and her entire family—husband and two sons—are also UC graduates and UC sports fans. Melissa is faith-filled and loves her family of origin, her Casco family and her country. When she’d not tending to Casco, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, planning family vacations, and gardening.

Michelle Johnson, Quality Manager
Michelle was promoted to quality manager in the fall of 2018, which we are all very excited about. She can now live up to the full potential of her nickname “The Enforcer”. She has 16 years of experience in quality control. She is involved in the inspection of Casco products, compliance, and adherence to OSHA, FDA and ISO requirements, which ensure that that every product leaving Casco is a high-quality product. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys riding motorcycles, crafting, and loves to sit on her front porch and watch the world go by. A Cincinnati native, she is married and has a grown daughter.

Bernice Hudler, Assistant Production Manager

Bernice has worked at Casco for 26 years, beginning as an industrial sewing operator and moving up to supervisor 14 years ago. It is about time that she was promoted to Assistant Production Manager in 2018. Ask Melissa and she’ll tell you she couldn’t run Casco without Bernice. Bernice assigns staff members to four or five different projects at any given time and oversees their progress. Her goal is to deliver to Casco customers 100-percent perfect projects; if it has the Casco name on it, she wants it to reflect the company’s high standards.

Bernice likes the family atmosphere at Casco and the management’s open-door policy that allows Casco employees to talk to Melissa at any time about a problem or suggestion. A Cincinnati native and graduate of Western Hills High School, Bernice’s hobbies are reading and travel. She has three grown sons.

Jeff Hummeldorf, Assistant General Manager

Jeff has worked for Casco for over 25 years. He has started out stripping furniture and moved through every job on the production floor, through production supervision, production management, purchasing and planning, customer service, customer service management, and now has been promoted in October to Assistant General Manager. Everyone turns to Jeff with all their questions before they look anywhere else. It’s rare that he doesn’t know the answer. He loves working with customers, growing our business, seeing the product shipping out on time correctly, and proving us right. He has always been and continues to be a true asset to the Casco team.

Jeff grew up in Cincinnati, worked for Casco in the upholstery department during the summers when he was in high school, then moved away for 10 years, returning to Cincinnati and Casco to raise his two boys. His passion is his children and bringing them up to be honorable and respectful. He enjoys spending time with them by attending Cincinnati Reds and U.C. Bearcat basketball and football games, camping and fishing.

Thomas Mangold-Lenett, Marketing Manager

Thomas Mangold-Lenett has a wide variety of interests and sees marketing as the intersection to the incorporation of many of them in his work. A recent hire, he’s helping Casco develop a marketing strategy that will help the company grow and move forward in a rapidly-changing manufacturing niche. Thomas brings with him the latest information in marketing tech tools, social media and marketing research. He earned his undergraduate degree in anthropology and psychology, and holds a master’s degree in business administration, all from the University of Cincinnati. He enjoys cooking, movies, reading and travel.

Jane Browe, Strategist – New Markets

From a strong foundation in classical sales and marketing experience, Jane Browe has developed her career with leadership responsibilities spanning a variety of industries including Healthcare, Manufacturing, Architectural and Building Products, Consumer Goods, Agriculture/Produce, Banking Services and Non-Profits. Through the course of her career, Jane has had P& L responsibility, and has led cross-functional, and at times, international teams in growth and development initiatives.

Jane’s experience includes development in both for-profit and non-profit environments. She has held leadership positions with organizations of all sizes from entrepreneurial start-ups to mid-size privately owned firms to Fortune 500 companies including Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Hillenbrand Industries.

Innovation and creativity are strengths Jane employs that enable organizations she works with to establish meaningful strategy that generates measurable results. She has a solid background developing unique positioning for organizations and their products and services, and engaging their target audiences effectively.

David Stewart, Inside Sales Specialist

David began working at Casco in January 2008. He has primarily been in Customer Service and Sales but has done a little of everything while at Casco. Contract Manufacturing Sales has been where David has focused most of his attention over the years. David retired from Casco at the end of 2017 but came back as a part time employee to do Contract Manufacturing/OEM sales. David enjoys working with the various Casco customers and his co-workers daily.

Prior to working at Casco, David graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduating from college, David began working for NYK Logistics, Domestic Division which was a Logistics Management Company. He became Vice President for NYK Logistics and worked for them for 25 years. He was responsible for the Eastern Region of the U.S. with sales in excess of $500M/year. David had 75 people working for him. David retired from NYK Logistics in 2007.

Bill Seidholz, Engineering/RF Manager

Bill started his career at Casco in 1995, he stared working as an industrial engineer in the sewing and cutting departments doing time studies and setting time standards and improving processes for the products.

His background is process control/Lean and cellular manufacturing/ and he also has a mechanical engineering degree from the Cincinnati Technical College. 

This education allows Bill to design and layout better processes, design tooling and make them more efficient. During Bills career at Casco he has implemented many types of automation to the company such as CNC controlled cutting equipment and programmable sewing machines as well as automated Radio Frequency welders. His knowledge allows him to improve many process and improve products as well.

Bill left Casco to pursue a career in the school bus industry in 2005 designing children’s car seats and booster seats for the school bus industry along with the NHTSA government agency to develop and comply with safety standards for school buses.

Bill came back to Casco in 2020 as the engineering/Radio frequency manager to continue working on improvements/automation and the design of new products.

Bill has 4 daughters who work in the health care industry as R/N’s and one who is a Nurse/ Practioner studying to be a Doctor in pediatrics at U/C

Bill has been married for 40 years and has 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In his spare time he loves playing his drums in 3 different bands.
