Casco Manufacturing is pleased to be attending the Support Surface Standards Initiative (S3I) meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, 2016. Jim Moore, Director of Operations; Jeff Hummeldorf, Customer Service Manager; Shelly Byington, Wound Care Nurse, and myself will be participating.
Pressure ulcers (or bedsores) are a big concern for bed-bound hospital patients. The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) founded S3I in 2001 to develop uniform terms and standards for support surfaces. The guidelines provide an objective means to evaluate and compare support surface characteristics. To improve comfort for patients, NPUAP and S3I ensure that support surfaces for these patients (such as mattresses and mattress covers) properly distribute pressure throughout the body to reduce bedsores.
At Casco Manufacturing, we advance healthcare one surface at a time. We are 100-percent committed to this initiative and the comfort of bed-bound patients. We look forward to sharing our expertise and learning how our mattresses and mattress covers can support this initiative and patients throughout the country.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
